Bera. Architectural ensemble

Bera lies in a valley formed by the River Bidasoa and the Zía Brook and is linked to France through the border crossings of Ibardin and Lizuniaga. It is an elegant town which has grown up around two main axes: one dominated by the Church of San Esteban, which was originally an inhabited Gothic tower, and another around the picturesque quarter of Alzate with its impeccably kept harmonious houses. Some were inhabited by distinguished families such as the Casa Itzea of the Baroja family. Precisely Julio Caro Baroja made his characteristic mark on the Town Hall.
